FLT is a fast-growing, award-winning designer and manufacturer of solar powered, outdoor lighting products. From our Victoria B.C. location, we work globally with a focus on building safer, more usable communities through solar outdoor lighting. 
 

The role 
The Materials Planner plays a key role in ensuring our production runs smoothly by managing material requirements, inventory levels, and supplier coordination. This position bridges production, procurement, and logistics — keeping materials flowing efficiently to support on-time delivery and operational excellence. 

This is a full-time, permanent role based in Victoria, BC. The position is hybrid, with a combination of in-office and remote work. Our team works 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. (some evenings or overtime may be required). 

Salary: $65,000-85,000 CAD annually 
Start date: Once filled 


What you’ll do 

  • Develop and maintain Material Requirements Plans (MRP) based on production forecasts and sales demand. 
  • Review Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure accurate data input into the ERP/MRP system. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and trigger purchase orders to ensure material availability. 
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure on-time delivery and resolve quality or delivery issues. 
  • Work closely with production and procurement teams to align schedules and minimize downtime. 
  • Track inventory accuracy, perform cycle counts, and recommend adjustments to safety stock. 
  • Analyze material usage trends and provide recommendations for cost and efficiency improvements. 
  • Generate reports on material status and inventory KPIs. 


What you bring 

Education & experience 

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Industrial Engineering, or related field. 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in materials planning, inventory management, or production scheduling (manufacturing experience preferred). 
  • Strong communication, organization, and coordination skills. 
  • Problem-solving mindset with attention to detail. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced, small-team environment. 
  • Collaborative approach and willingness to work hands-on when needed. 

Technical skills 

  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, or similar). 
  • Strong Excel and data analysis capabilities. 
  • Solid understanding of supply chain, lead times, and inventory optimization principles. 

Key performance indicators 

  • On-time material availability 
  • Inventory accuracy and turnover 
  • Production downtime due to material shortages 
  • Cost improvements through better planning 

Nice to have 

  • Experience in solar, lighting, or electronics manufacturing is an advantage.
