We are seeking a Senior Network Analyst to join our team in VICTORIA, British Columbia, Canada. 

The Senior Network Analyst manages and supports the planning and design of network architecture for both the BC Pension Corporation’s network infrastructure and cloud network, ensuring successful integration and interoperability. The position serves as a subject matter expert providing advanced technical expertise on complex initiatives and issues, working collaboratively with project teams, branches across the corporation, and external vendors to support the success of technical solutions and reliable and secure network services.

Hybrid Work Model 

This position is located in our Victoria, BC office. You will have the flexibility to work part of the time on-campus and part of the time off-campus. The requirement for on-campus presence is a minimum of 40% of your schedule in a month. 

Additional requirements are determined by the role functions and operational needs of each business area.  

Responsibilities

    Manages the research and evaluation of new and evolving technology, products and standards, and contributes to the development of multi-year technology and service roadmaps, plans and strategies.

    Provides recommendations to the Senior Technical Architect on IT network and infrastructure solutions.

    Participates in and/or leads project meetings with peers, contractors and service providers to ensure requirements and priorities are understood and met, informs project budget, and resolves issues throughout the project life cycle. 

    Oversees the resolution of all network issues, leading investigations and performing advanced troubleshooting to ensure timely resolution before escalation to external vendors.

    Contributes to defining, developing, and implementing technical policies, procedures, and standards for hardware, software, and related security aspects.

    Contributes to preparing and/or negotiating contracts and monitoring performance of vendors.

    Monitors work queues within the service management tools and escalate as required.

    Produces and reviews all Network infrastructure related knowledge articles and documentation.

    Leads the backup and recovery process, including testing, and ensures that all network devices are properly backed up and can be quickly restored to minimize downtime and maintain business continuity.

    Administers and maintains next-generation firewalls; implements approved network changes, including firewall rule modifications and configuration updates, ensuring compliance with security standards and minimizing operational impact.

    Collaborates with teams across the ITS division, including Security and IT Engineering, to resolve issues, and ensure network solutions meet security standards and business needs. 

    Provides consultation and technical guidance to identify/confirm requirements, resolve issues, and support new deployments ensuring proper access controls, firewall configurations, and compliance with organizational standards 

    Engages with vendors to resolve issues that cannot be addressed internally, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on operations

Qualifications

Must have

    Post-secondary degree in computer science, information systems or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

    Three years of recent experience in network architecture and infrastructure management in a senior technical role in a large network environment that includes:

o    Experience analyzing and resolving network and infrastructure issues and incidents in a complex enterprise environment.

o    Experience designing, managing and maintaining network related components in a complex environment (i.e. Switches, Routers, Firewalls, Active Directory, etc.)

o    Experience implementing and/or supporting a large integrated application.

o    Experience configuring, managing and troubleshooting next generation firewalls.

Nice to have

    Recent experience in the following is preferred:

o    Coordinating and working with service providers.

o    Developing and maintaining knowledge articles and other support documentation. 

o    IT security including anti-virus software, IPS/IDS, SIEM.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    Knowledge of all aspects of IT network and infrastructure including Cloud technologies.

    Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Azure AD, and Group Policy.

    Knowledge of ITSM processes – Incident Management, Problem Management and Change Management. 

    Technical knowledge of and ability to manage next generation firewalls.

    Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style for technical and non-technical audiences.

    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills in a technical environment.

    Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to proactively build and maintain relationships with a variety of groups and individuals. 

    Ability to understand client needs, gather requirements, and develop sound technical options and recommendations for solutions.

    Knowledge and skills in IT security including anti-virus software, IPS/IDS, SIEM would be an asset.
